The nave of San Clemente, Rome, Italy
The Schola Cantorum in San Clemente, Rome. San Clemente was built in the 12th century, but its roots are reaching far back into history. It is the successor of a 4th century church which also wasn’t the first building at this place.
Fragments of Baroque wall paintings (18th century) and a Gothic graveslab for St Plektrudis (13th century) decorate the southern wall of St Maria im Kapitol, Cologne.
Standing at yesterday’s position we’re now turning around and look back: a view into St Maria im Kapitol’s aisle from within the Trikonchos.
Taken through a closed gate: ambulatory in the trikonchos of St Maria im Kapitol, Cologne. These few artefacts made me curious what was behind the bend, but unfortunately I couldn’t get to there.
